Veterans Transition House

The Veterans Transition House (VTH) was established to provide hope in a safe, sober, supportive residence for homeless Veterans, and to assist those who desire to achieve rehabilitation, self-sufficiency, and reintegration into the community.

The VTH serves 52 homeless.  In addition, the VTH Graduate Programs provides housing for 17 additional veterans as well as operating Network House, a 10-bed civilian program.  The Women Veterans Transition House (WVTH) will provide a program for 10 female veterans.

Fred C. Macedo, Jr. is a graduate of Bishop Stang High School and attended the then Southeastern Massachusetts University. Presently, he is the editor of “Now Hear This . . .”, the VTH monthly newsletter; the Dir. of VTH Graduate Programs and the Coordinator for the Homeless Service Providers’ Network (HSPN).

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Trundy as the new Director of the Women Veterans Transition House (WVTH).

Elizabeth Trundy comes to the WVTH as an original native Floridian.

“I never really lived far from a coast. So New Bedford is a very comfortable community I truly appreciate. I also have a great respect for Veterans, as my father was a veteran of the Korean War, earned numerous commendations while serving in the US Navy and spent the remainder of his life in Law Enforcement. I have traveled the world and experienced many cultures, learning from the many differences and similarities of all people. It is natural to me that I ended up in Human Services” stated Ms. Trundy

Elizabeth currently has CADAC, LADCII, CCDP credentials and has a great desire to earn a Masters in Psychology. Her previous experience has been 3+ years in the Substance Abuse field as a case manager and counselor. More recently, (since 2006) she has been and continues as, Program Coordinator of The Trundy Institute of Addiction Counseling located here in New Bedford. “Training and educating future Substance Abuse Counselors is a prophetic endeavor I enjoy, but working with the women of WVTH will fulfill my sincerest need to connect and help other women again” Elizabeth said.
