DARTMOUTH- If you can't find a store bought tomato with the savory tomato taste you remember from your youth, come to the Dartmouth Grange Agricultural Fair on Saturday, Sept 8th  for  it's First Annual Heirloom Tomato Festival!  Judging will commence at  12:30 pm and  after the judging is completed, the public is invited to taste and discuss these diverse and delicious fruit.  Taste is a major reason local gardeners are turning to heirloom varieties, many think no store bought pretender can match the sweet and mellow flavor of a Brandywine Heirloom.

In addition to the Tomato Festival,The Grange Agricultural Fair is a great place to bring the entire family. Kids games, family entertainment, educational exhibits, food, a penny sale and much more are features of the festival.

The Dartmouth  Grange #162 is proud to be bringing back it's Agricultural Fair after a hiatus of several years as our Shared Use Kitchen was under construction. The Grange Fair  is from 4 to 10 pm Friday Sept 7 and Saturday 12 to 6. You may call (508) 636- 1900 for more information. The Dartmouth Grange is located at 1133 Fisher Road in scenic Russell's Mills Village.

If you are a grower, your Heirloom tomatoes may be entered in the fair with your other vegetables (before  4 on Friday )or may be brought in by noon on Sat. Fruit should be a named Heirloom variety,  be ripe for eating and washed. For cherry and currant tomatoes bring 6 fruit, all other categories bring two to be judged.

If you are not  sure if you have an heirloom or a commercial variety, just bring them to the fair and the committee will do their best to find out!
