Dear Citizens of New Bedford:

I am running for re-election because I believe that New Bedford is a better place to live and raise a family, as well as a place to invest and grow a business, than it was the day I was elected to serve as your Mayor.  I have strived to conduct and oversee an open transparent government for and by all of the people of our City.

I believe with another term I can continue to bring improvements to our quality of life in the areas of public safety, quality education for our children, neighborhood revitalization and sustainable economic development, which will mean jobs and an expanded tax base for our City.  The opportunities that will benefit and challenge New Bedford will be numerous and complex in each of these areas, but I am confident we can work together to achieve great, positive results for our City.  I will continue to strive for an efficient, cost-effective City government, and safeguard every single hard-earned tax dollar. 

I ask that you consider allowing me to continue to work diligently to represent each of you and your families, to the best of my ability, as Mayor of the City of New Bedford.  In short, I will continue to work with you to build a New Bedford that we are proud of, and is respected throughout the State and Country.

Scott W. Lang

Attorney Scott W. Lang served as Special Assistant District Attorney in the Bristol County District Attorneys office from 1978 to 1990. He has taught Labor and Employment Law at UMass Dartmouth since 1991 as well as participating as a faculty member in many continuing legal education seminars. He currently serves as an Arbitrator with Commonwealth Mediation & Conciliation Inc.

Scott is a member of the American Bar Association, Bristol County Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, New Bedford Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Scott currently serves as Mayor of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
