Home and Garden Show Offers Activities for the Whole Family

New Bedford, MA – The 22nd Annual Greater New Bedford Home and Garden Show is being held this weekend on Saturday, March 5th from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 6th from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, 1121 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford. Admission to the show is just $3.00. Children under 12 are free. The show is sponsored by the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, SouthCoast Media Group, WBSM 1420, FUN 107 and the Real Estate Book.
Get ready for those Spring Home and Garden projects! The Home and Garden Show is the best place to find innovative ideas, special pricing and the latest improvements. Nearly 100 area experts that provide goods and services for use in and around the home will be exhibiting at the show. This family friendly event also features free seminars and workshops, cooking demonstrations from some of the area’s popular chefs, child safety programs and much more.
A First Time Homebuyer Workshop will be presented by Joe Castelo of the Castelo Group on both Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Buying a home can be a daunting process for many. Finding the home that fits your needs, wants and price range is only the beginning. The typical transaction is not just about buyer and seller but involves appraisals, inspections, surveys, a couple of agents and an attorney. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn about the process and get your questions answered by local experts. The workshop will also cover the first time home buyer tax credit.
Local Food 101 will be presented by Sarah Cogswell of the Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Learn the Where, Why and How of local food. The presentation will focus on how to buy from local farms and how unprocessed and organic foods are better your health.
The Seven Signs of Stress and How to Avoid Them will be presented by Dr. Brian Polochick of Polochick Chiropractic and Wellnness Center on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The presentation will offer stress relief tips that impact your finances, family and household.
The Child Project sponsored by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department will be offered on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature free safety net iris scanning and fingerprinting of children for parents interested in this safety program that helps identify children if they ever went missing.
Cooking Demonstrations will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. by Chef Robert Cassi of the Airport Grille and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by Chef Mike Melo of M & C Café. A Sushi Rolling Demonstration by Chef James Perez of the Waterfront Grille will also be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. These demonstrations are a great way to improve your culinary skills with top chefs in the area and walk away with new and delicious recipes!
