New Bedford, Massachusetts- Mayor Scott W. Lang today announced the launch of the City of New Bedford’s newly redesigned website, giving city residents greater access to their municipal government. Developed, designed and maintained by the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department, NewBedford-ma.gov offers new features and services for residents, businesses and visitors.
Some of the most significant new features are the improvements made to site navigation and appearance. Users can now more easily locate information and move from page to page throughout every City department within a consistent, professional format. In addition, the City has updated the site with new features like a searchable events database, streaming flash video files, and printable parcel maps.
Other new additions to the website include the conversion of all public meeting agendas and minutes into Adobe pdf format, which should ensure compatability for all visitors to our City’s site. The City’s MIS Director, Rob Tetreault, commended his staff for all of their hard work in developing the new web site and hopes to continue the process of making more of the city’s information available via the Internet. “Our long term goal is to eliminate the need for our City’s residents to be forced to visit City Hall for answers to basic questions or to pick up standard forms or applications” said Mr. Tetreault. He
added, “We hope to have these items available on our web site for people to obtain from the convenience of their own homes any time of day or night.”
“NewBedford-ma.gov offers residents a new level of access to information and services from their city government,” said Mayor Scott W. Lang. “The new website is the product of months of careful planning and design by the MIS staff in cooperation with a representative from each city department. The result is a modern website that is user friendly, updated and accurately communicates the best of New Bedford to everyone who discovers our city through the Internet.”
