(New Bedford, MA) – (12/6/07) – Schwartz Center for Children has been informed by CARF that it has been accredited for a period of three years for its Outpatient Rehabilitation Program.

This accreditation outcome, which represents the highest level of accreditation, is awarded to organizations that show substantial fulfillment of the standards established by CARF.  An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.  Further, an organization accredited for three years clearly indicates that present conditions represent an established pattern of total operations that is likely to be maintained or improved in the foreseeable future.

The latest action marks the eleventh consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcomes awarded the Schwartz Center for Children by CARF, an international accrediting body.

CARF recently stated in a report of its findings that “the new facility is accessible, inviting, and well designed to meet the needs of the persons served and that the leadership, including the executive director, director of operations, and director of outpatient services, is dedicated and committed to the mission, vision, values, and legacy of the organization.”

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body promoting quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.  Since 1966, CARF has established consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.

The Schwartz Center for Children is a non-profit agency established in 1947 by parents seeking services for their children and is the only free-standing pediatric rehabilitation clinic in New England.  Since its founding, the Center has continued to grow to meet the needs of children through the southcoast area.  Its’ four major programs include: Early Intervention, Private Day School, an Outpatient Rehabilitation Program, and a Regional Consultation Program.
