Camara, 50, of 626 Prospect St. in Pawtucket, R.I., is accused of striking and killing 38-year-old Maria Aguiar with his white GMC Yukon while Aguiar was walking down her street with her young daughter, who was riding a bicycle. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on October 14th.
After an extensive month-long investigation, coordinated by Assistant District Attorney Pat Bomberg, Camara was arrested on November 9th and arraigned in Taunton District Court that afternoon. Assisting in the investigation were Troopers Dan Giossi and Scott Flaherty of the Massachusetts State Police Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, Detectives Tom Piquette and Don Bricault from the Seekonk Police Department, and investigators from the East Providence Police Department.
Camara will be arraigned in New Bedford Superior Court at a date to be determined.
