The victim of a New Year's morning shooting in New Bedford has died due to wounds sustained during the incident.

Edwin Medina, 15, of New Bedford, died at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston late Wednesday. He was the victim of a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. Medina was attending a party on County Street in New Bedford when the shooting occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Medina was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford before being transported to Beth Israel Hospital.

The case is now being investigated as a homicide by the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, the State Police Detectives assigned to the district attorney's office and the New Bedford Police.
