Information regarding the SouthCoast GOP (Republican Party) - agendas, how to join, contact information and an events calendar may be found at: www.semassgop.com The Dartmouth Republican Town Committee and the New Bedford Republican Party are pleased to announce the upcoming 2nd Bristol/Plymouth Reorganizational Caucus to be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Southworth Library in South Dartmouth, MA at 6:30PM. (732 Dartmouth Street. Dartmouth, MA 02748)
This caucus, conducted every four-years closely following the Massachusetts Presidential Primary, is instrumental in helping to re-organize each of the district’s Republican committees to organize themselves, consolidate and to re-elect its membership slate and nominate and elect executive board officers for the 2008-2010 term. Both Dartmouth and New Bedford have chosen to conduct their respective caucuses in the same location and date to enhance the spirit of district fellowship as well as to share ideas and strategies at an informal meet-and-greet to follow the business aspects of the caucus.
As rapidly growing regional Republican grassroots organizations, both the Dartmouth RTC and New Bedford GOP attached support in 2007 to the campaigns of Tom Hodgson for Sheriff of Bristol County, Doug Obey for State Representative, Jim Ogonowski for US Congress, Bob Heroux for Registrar of Probate, and Jeff Beatty for US Senate. Likewise, our Southcoast Republican committees have enjoyed the recent attention of many other various statewide and national candidates as well as the demonstrable interest of Massachusetts Republican Party chairman, Peter Torkildsen, in the development of programs and financial contribution to the SouthCoast. District Republicans most recently participated in a sold-out Fall River Lincoln Day Breakfast and affirmed their enthusiasm for the prospects of a working political partnership between the 2nd Bristol/Plymouth and 1st Bristol/Plymouth Republican districts for developing local Republican candidates and causes.
Conducted under the supervision of the State Committee representative Brock N. Cordeiro (R-Dartmouth), the caucus is expected to be held from 6:30PM and continue until 7:30PM or as long as needed to fulfill the requirements mandated by the Massachusetts Republican Party and the state committee. Previous membership in either organization is not necessary for election as a general member or executive board officer. Participation and attendance at this caucus is strongly recommended for any registered Republicans of either community who wish to be members. To be elected via proxy, please contact any member or current executive board member to place your name for election on the slate.
