Dear SouthCoast Republican Community and friends,
I want to take this opportunity to thank so many of you for supporting me in my capacity as interim-Chairman of the New Bedford Republican Party since April, 2007. I have enjoyed serving with you as we continuously grow and enhance our regional and municipal Republican organizations. I am proud of the various commitments that we have made to one another and to our cause for collaborating in a much more unified scale with an emphasis on the regional district level. I want to particularly thank State Committeeman Brock N. Cordeiro and outgoing State Committeewoman Marcy Haaland for their steadfast loyalty to our party, and their consistent leadership set by example.
It is in this same spirit that I humbly ask for your vote to a full two-year term as chairman of the New Bedford Republican Party. Certainly, 2007 was an active and eventful year for New Bedford Republicans. We helped to re-elect Ward 1 Councilor, Linda Morad, and were instrumental in helping to elect Jill-Marie Ussach to the New Bedford School Committee.
As a growing Party, we attached our support to the campaigns of Tom Hodgson for Sheriff of Bristol County, Doug Obey for State Representative, Jim Ogonowski for US Congress, Bob Heroux for Registrar of Probate, and Jeff Beatty for US Senate. We have likewise enjoyed the attention of many other various statewide and national candidates as well as the interest of our Massachusetts Republican Party chairman, Peter Torkildsen. Many New Bedford Republicans participated in the Fall River Lincoln Day Breakfast and were excited about the prospects of a working political relationship between the 2nd Bristol/Plymouth and 1st Bristol/Plymouth Republican districts. We encourage the partnership between new state committee representatives Linda Rapoza and Steve Martin with our own Brock Cordeiro and whomever his female colleague will be.
If you will honor me with a full, two-year term of my own, I will continue to advocate support of local Republican candidates and causes. I promise to affirm our commitment to enhancing and growing our local committees, Parties and regional organizations. It is my firm belief that regional cooperation is the vehicle by which our cause will grow and flourish. As our organization’s stated principal goal is the consideration, funding of and support for candidates and causes, membership retention and development must be a chief component of this growth. Furthermore, we must use our membership to develop and prepare Republican activists for public service.
Thank you once again for your consideration of my candidacy for Chairman of the New Bedford Republican Party. Please join me on Tuesday, March 11 for 6:30PM at the Southworth Library in South Dartmouth to caucus and elect our membership slate and executive board for the 2008-2010 term. God Bless you, our New Bedford Republican Party and our cause.
Most sincerely,
Nathan E. Pierce, chairman
New Bedford Republican Party
