District Attorney Sam Sutter announced today that Corey Deen Saunders will be arraigned on new indictments tomorrow (March 4) in New Bedford Superior Court.
Saunders was indicted by a Bristol County Grand Jury on February 28 on felony charges of threatening bodily harm, enticing a child under 16, indecent assault and battery of a child under 14, indecent assault and battery of a child under 14-subsequent offense and rape of a child with force.
Mr. Saunders, 26, was arrested January 30 after he allegedly raped a 6-year-old boy in the second-floor reading room of the library while his mother worked nearby on a computer.
A librarian alerted the boy's mother and police after recognizing Mr. Saunders from a computer database of registered sex offenders.
Saunders was ordered held without bail after District Attorney Sutter successfully argued that the defendant is dangerous during a dangerousness hearing held February 7 in New Bedford District Court.
Aside from the arraignment, Saunders will also appear before the court tomorrow for a probation surrender hearing.
