Schwartz Center for Children, Dartmouth MassachusettsBrennan Srisirikul, a current physical therapy client at the Schwartz Center for Children, is not deterred one bit by having cerebral palsy. This ambitious youth, like others his age, recently received his drivers license.

Using pedals in a regular car would be very difficult, if not impossible for Brennan because of his decreased strength throughout his lower extremities, however, Amaral’s Driving School has a specialized car for youth with disabilities. This car has hand controls for the gas and brake which allows Brennan to control the car with the functional use of his upper extremities.

Brennan was serviced by Schwartz Center staff as a young boy in the Fairhaven School System and now for physical therapy twice a week due to a recent orthopedic surgery. Also Brennan is a patient of Dr. Webster’s for his physiatry needs and New England Orthotic and Prostheic Systems for all of his bracing needs within the Center’s specialized clinic programs.
