New Bedford, MA –The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it is now accepting nominations for the Greater New Bedford area’s “Small Business of the Year.”

The Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by BankFive, is bestowed by the Chamber on a small business that demonstrates creativity and imagination in the development of its business or in its product or service; exhibits growth in the number of employees and/or client base; and reflects social responsibility in its employee relations, community involvement, and efforts to encourage workforce and management diversity.

For-profit businesses located in Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Rochester, Wareham, and Westport are eligible for nomination. Nominated businesses must employ 50 or fewer full-time employees (2 part-time employees=1 full-time employee), and have been in business for three consecutive years under the current ownership.

Nominees need not be Chamber members, and individuals may nominate their own businesses. Nominations are due by March 28; there is no application/nomination fee.

To nominate a business, call the Chamber at (508) 999-5231 to request a nomination form. Winners will be selected by the Chamber’s Award Selection Committee and be announced at a Good Morning, SouthCoast! Small Business Award Ceremony and Breakfast on Wednesday, May 14th.

The New Bedford Area of Commerce recognizes the role that small business play in the creation of new jobs and economic opportunities in the Greater New Bedford region.
