Fagbemi Miranda arrested and charged with murder of Christopher Barros in New Bedford in 2005

District Attorney Sam Sutter announced today that Fagbemi Miranda, 30, of 439 Purchase St., was arrested and charged with murder, unlawful carrying of a firearm without a license and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Mr. Miranda is accused of a joint venture with his brother, Wayne Miranda, to murder 25-year-old Christopher Barros on October 10, 2005.
Mr. Barros was shot and killed in the South Central section of New Bedford.
Wayne Miranda, 28, was arrested shortly after the fatal 2005 shooting and charged with murder. He is currently being held without bail while he awaits trial.
Fagbemi Miranda was indicted by a Bristol County Grand Jury last Friday and was arrested today by New Bedford Police and State Police Detectives assigned to District Attorney Sutter’s office. The arrest occurred late this afternoon at Mr. Miranda’s home.
Mr. Miranda will be arraigned in New Bedford Superior Court on Tuesday.
Assistant District Attorney Raymond Veary is handling the case and coordinated the investigation. A photo of Fagbemi Miranda will be e-mailed to the media by representatives from the New Bedford Police Department.
No further details about the case will be disclosed until tomorrow’s arraignment.
