NEW BEDFORD COMPANY POWERING A CARIBBEAN BANK Local Company is shipping a 450KW generator system to the Island of Anguilla.

Our New Bedford based firm is preparing to send a 450KW generator system to the resort Island of Anguilla, British West Indies to supply emergency power to a local bank. This is no ordinary generator set! R.A. Mitchell Company has custom built this unit to allow the bank to run, 24/7, in the event of a hurricane or power outage.   The generator system consists of a number of components – over 80% purchased locally – that will be shipping to the Island as well!

The Island has received over 30 generator sets provided by Mitchell’s for various multi-million dollar homes, a police station, as well as supermarkets even the Governor’s home!  The R.A. Mitchell Company, a third generation family business, established in 1954, is operating on Popes Island of New Bedford, MA.  Robert A. opened the business selling engines, parts & service to the local fishing boats.  His son, Bob, took over and continues to support the fishing industry as well as making contacts all over the world such as Anguilla.  Bob’s daughters; Jennifer DeMello and Karen Joseph work alongside and run the Company’s day to day business.

The R.A. Mitchell Company has over 15 loyal employees.  Many have been with the Company over 20 years! 

Stop by our facility tomorrow to see the 20’ container which includes all the components for the bank being lifted for shipment!  Dalton Crane, another local Company, will be hoisting the 20,000 lbs container on to a truck for onward shipment to Florida. The freight company is also a locally owned business; RLD Transport of Dartmouth!
