May 1, 2008 (NEW BEDFORD, MA) – The Candleworks Restaurant, located at 72 North Water Street in New Bedford will be closed the week of Memorial Day for a mini facelift - New owner Jared Morgado is updating the look and enhancing the feel of the beloved establishment. “Memorial Day week is typically a slow week for the restaurant and we thought closing during this time would be the least inconvenient for our patrons.” During the brief closing, the restaurant will get new seating for the main dinning room, a fresh coat of paint, refinishing of the woodwork, updated lighting and new patio furniture - the patio will open for the summer with the re-opening of the restaurant on Sunday, June 1.

Morgado is also working with local artists to have their art exhibited on location, which will be changed out monthly. The young entrepreneur is phasing in small changes that will enhance the experience at the 5-star restaurant without sacrificing the fine cuisine and first-class service people have come to expect. “Our regular patrons enjoy the current live entertainment after dinner, so we'll keep them coming back, but we'll also try something new on Thursday nights – some Jazz and World Music – for those looking for something a bit off the beaten path with an element of sophistication. The live piano music during dinner is something that we will never change. It is the Candleworks signature and something everyone enjoys.”
The Candleworks restaurant is currently taking dinner reservations for their reopening on Sunday, June 1. The evening will include a special menu, sit-down dinner 5-7 p.m., accompanied by piano music with the popular young pianist Robert Lee. Following the dinner hours, everyone is invited to kick-off summer with cocktails and live music on the patio.
The reopening is an opportunity for patrons to get a first glimpse at the restaurant’s updates and a chance for newcomers to discover this gem in their backyard. “People don’t have to travel to Providence or Boston to experience upscale dining, diverse music, and elegance,” Morgado said. “Whether it’s after work or after-hours, the Candleworks will welcome and serve you with the highest of standards – we value our customers and we are always looking for ways to enhance their experience here.” To make reservations call Cindy at 508-997-1294
