I’ve never held political office.
I have been an active member of the downtown business community and recently resigned from a little over a year on the board at Downtown New Bedford Inc.
I’ve been a SMILES Mentor two years for a really wonderful young man. I have also worked to raise money for WHALE, Festival Theatre, AHA!, DNB Inc. and several other worth while organizations.

Statement:
I feel it is important that out city’s legislative body take a pro-active role and aggressively develop ordinances which will improve the quality of life for all the citizens of New Bedford.
I envision a city council of like minded citizens working as a team in the best interest of the tax payer. I will work hard to see that happen. I intend to actively recruit through a letter writing campaign (which I have begun already) small businesses for downtown and industries to explore our business park and vacant mill spaces.
As you know, marketing the best attributes of New Bedford as been my passionate mission for some time now. I know we have the assets already here, we must begin to utilize them to full potential. As a lawmaker I see real potential for influencing new ways to make this city’s dreams a reality.
I will make it a priority to be accessible through out my term and not just around election time. I am already engaged in actively listening to the public’s concerns and will continue this relationship because it is most important. I also will make it a priority to do the due diligence research it takes to make the best possible decisions in all matters of public policy, spending and master planning.
As my good friend Pearl has told me, “a new broom sweeps clean Henry.” And She’s right! It’s time to broaden our horizons and refresh your city council by adding some new faces and enthusiastic commitment.
I am asking for your support as a candidate for Councilor at Large. I’m committed to the future of this city because my wife and I have chosen to raise our family here. We love New Bedford, we believe in New Bedford, it’s time the city council works for a better New Bedford.
Sincerely,
Henry G. Bousquet
