Best Buy and Circuit City in Dartmouth - I'm lovin' Ya!

"See you at Best Buy in Dartmouth" is often a closing line to a phone call with a client. Once a week (and sometimes more), I meet with a client at Best Buy (or Circuit City) to help them select appropriate equipment for their office.

I began offering this service several years ago and since then have helped clients buy scores of computers, scanners, routers, digital cameras and the like. When you're helping dozens of clients buy equipment, it's easy to spend literally hundreds of thouands of dollars. I ought to be on commission!!!

More importantly though, I've helped local area businesses and not for profits save many tens of thouands of dollars in un-necessary expenditure through a process of evaluation and discussion. It's often available to work with equipment that meets the need but doesn't go overboard.

There's a certain comfort for local New Bedford business professionals being able to shop Best Buy (or Circuit City) with me. For my clients, they only buy PCs and associated hardware once every few years, but as I'm buying the stuff weekly, I can steer them to the deals and help them avoid un-necessary expenses.

If you're not buying hardware regularly, you might not know enough about what's available and how it fits your needs. The single piece of advice I provide my clients seems to be to buy the cheapest computer on the shelf.

Computers nowadays have far out-paced the needs of the average business user. Usually, the cheapest computer at Best Buy will be more than sufficient for your needs.

My advise to you - invite along an experienced technology buyer on your next trip. You'll pay small money for their advice and could well save your organizations thousands of dollars in the process. Enjoy the adoration of your colleagues as you tell them you've saved a few thousand dollars that can now be assigned to the employer contribution 401K program!!!
