NEW BEDFORD — Four homes in the historic Washington Square neighborhood, just south of downtown New Bedford, are getting a facelift thanks to the efforts of the local preservation group, WHALE, the Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE.


Have a whale of a time at the 19th annual Wine Festival and Auction at Custom House Square in New Bedford on Sept. 18 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Proceeds will benefit WHALE’s preservation, neighborhood restoration, and advocacy activities.

Presented by Pier Fish, the event will feature local restaurants and caterers serving their best and most sought after recipes under two tents at Custom House Square.
