Henry Bousquet

Henry is a New Bedford, Massachusetts native. He comes from a long line of city employees. He graduated from, St. Anthony Elementary, Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and then from Bristol Community College with an Associates Degree in Communications.

Henry is thirty-one years old and has two children. He and his wife Theresa (Tee) have been married for 6 years. They own a home in New Bedford. He has been working in restaurants most of his life. He’s owned Four Corners Breakfast on Nauset Street for two years and Cobblestone Restaurant in Downtown for the last four years. In addition to his Associates Degree Henry holds a Culinary Educator Certification and is a Culinary Instructor at GNB Voc Tech. He is also a student at Fitchburg State College earning his Baccalaureate Degree in Occupational Education.

Henry has always had a passion for public service. As a business owner Henry jumped right into the non-profit volunteerism scene donating time, gift certificates, and services. He was a Board member at Downtown New Bedford Incorporated, is a SMILES mentor and an active alumni at BCC. His passion for the city of New Bedford and its future is evident in the pieces he writes for publications like NewBedford360.com, the Weekly Compass and his occasional editorials in the Standard Times. He decision to leave the entrepreneurial world and enter education supports his commitment to family and the future of this city.

I find it tragic and extremely disappointing that your newspaper, the regions only daily, thinks that “news” of every kind should be reported on with extreme bias. The people who subscribe to the Standard Times deserve better.
Ward 3 is a diverse area of the city. It contains a wide range of properties. Industrial, commercial, residential; areas span the spectrum from Rockwell-ian suburban splendor to inner city two and three family housing, abandoned tenements, vacant mill space, and also encompasses the majority of the city’s public housing developments.

"As a resident of Ward 3 for more than 11 years, I have seen this area quickly deteriorate under our current ward councilor, Kathy Dehner. She has been MIA ever since winning her seat 4 years ago.

Absent at most council meetings. Invisible in her public public appearances. Unresponsive to phone calls and messages left. Out of touch with its residents.
Ward 3 is the most uniquely populated ward in the city. It contains areas of industrial and commercial properties. The Bullard Street Neighborhood Association, The Rockdale Ave Neighborhood Association, Mount Pleasant Street Neighborhood Association, The Far North End Neighborhood Associations are combining their efforts to hold a forum for the public to meet, greet, and learn all about the candidates for the city’s top spot.
The Mount Pleasant Street Neighborhood Association has given its scholarship award in the name of Margret Tighe, one of the neighborhood groups founders. On August 31st 2011 at 6:30pm two young graduates received one thousand dollars each to pursue their dreams!
Constituent services is a phrase that councilors use as a catch all job description. It essentially refers to the duties preformed by elected representatives on your behalf and in your best interest. It could range from helping you arrange the pick-up of bulky items, getting a handicapped parking sign in from of your home, even appearing before a city board with you, in defense or support of an agenda item.
New Bedford, MA: The issue of a casino has been bandied about in political campaigns for at least the last 20 yrs, almost as long as commuter rail. Both issues have the potential for significant impact on the economic viability of the city and its commercial and residential tax base.

GUARDIAN ANGELS - NEW BEDFORD CHAPTER

This Wednesday July 29th at the Mount Pleasant Street Neighborhood Association Meeting at Holy Family Home Name Hall on the corner of Mt.Vernon and Mount Pleasant streets we will be holding a question and answer session for anyone interested in volunteering with the GA or anyone who just has questions for the organizers. Also look for us in the Portuguese Day Parade on Sunday August 2nd!

Building on the success of our Saturday patrol of the north end we will be Patrolling the south end this Saturday coming! So look for the Guardian Angels to be out around Brock ave, and the fort after dark.

We will also be meeting at the Bullard Street NA Meeting at Saint Anthony's Church in August for anyone who has more concerns or questions about the GA involvement in our city and can not make this months meeting.

Breakfast is an absolute must when I’m on the road. It is my favorite meal to eat, anytime and virtually anywhere.
