NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Sports Performance & Orthopedic Rehabilitation Team (SPORT) is offering a free lecture on how to safely prevent and identify concussions in young athletes. NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Maternity units at Southcoast Hospitals will return to their regular visiting hours, effective Sunday, April 4. The policy applies to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

Visiting hours for the three Southcoast Hospitals’ maternity units are noon to 8 p.m. Children under 12 years old are not permitted to visit, unless the child is a sibling of the infant. Those who are ill — including a fever, cough, sore throat or runny nose — will also not be permitted to visit.

Dr. Ford is performing post-mastectomy breast reconstruction surgeries at all three Southcoast Hospitals as a part of the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care team.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Hospitals Group is sponsoring a series of free vascular screenings at its three hospital sites this spring.

The non-invasive screenings are performed by a trained nurse and take approximately 20 minutes. Patients should arrive 15 minutes prior to screening time.

Appointments are required and can be requested by calling 800-497-1727. Space is limited and appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. No walk-ins will be accepted on screening days.

Southcoast Hospitals today announced its new Wound Care Center in Fall River, which will house the first hyperbaric oxygen treatment chambers in Southeastern Massachusetts and East Bay R.I., will open on March 15.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — Southcoast Hospitals Group and Northeast Ear Nose & Throat Surgeons will be offering free head and neck cancer screenings on the Southcoast Health Van on Wednesday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CVS/Pharmacy, 1145 Kempton St. in New Bedford.

Southcoast Hospitals Group has named Patricia A. Nelson as Director of Oncology Operations for the Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care.

In her new role at Southcoast, Nelson will oversee the administrative staff and function in both medical and radiation oncology for Southcoast’s cancer centers in Fall River and North Dartmouth as well as the new flagship center being built in Fairhaven.
