New Bedford, MA – The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting of the SouthCoast Electric Power Group (SCEPG), a collaboration of thirty-six large users of electricity in the New Bedford and Fall River area, on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Whites of Westport, 66 State Road, Westport, MA. The meeting will recap the group’s combined savings for 2007 and update members on electricity contracts for 2008. Representatives of Risk Services Group and Con Edison will be available to answer questions from members.

The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is no longer the lead organizer for Summerfest, but that the popular festival will continue as a community partnership with the City of New Bedford.

Summerfest, which was established over ten years ago as a partnership between the Chamber, the New Bedford Standard Times and the City of New Bedford has grown from a local seafood festival promoting New Bedford's ties to the fishing industry into one of the largest folk music and arts festivals in New England.
