Background: Owner Philip Dwane has completely restored this historic building and has turned it into a Celtic coffee house serving their special roasted smooth organic coffee, imported Irish Tea, espressos, lattes and cappuccinos along with gourmet baked goods, sandwiches, salads, homemade soups and Irish specialty items like Irish stew and their Irish breakfast.

NEW BEDFORD, MA [May 21, 2008] - Tony DeRienzo is the Executive Chef at The Waterfront Grille set to open in late June on the waterfront at Homer’s Wharf in New Bedford, Massachusetts.  The moderately-priced menu Mr. DeRienzo developed will be 85 percent fish and will include a selection of sushi dishes.  Mr. DeRienzo graduated from Johnson and Wales and got his start cooking in Boston’s finest restaurants, like Ambrosia on Huntington and Biba, where he worked under the James Beard Award-winning chef Lydia Shire.  His cooking style blends traditional New England fare with strong Mediterranean and Asian influences.

(NEW BEDFORD, MA) – The Candleworks Restaurant, located at 72 North Water Street in New Bedford will be closed the week of Memorial Day for a mini facelift - New owner Jared Morgado is updating the look and enhancing the feel of the beloved establishment. “Memorial Day week is typically a slow week for the restaurant and we thought closing during this time would be the least inconvenient for our patrons.”  During the brief closing, the restaurant will get new seating for the main dinning room, a fresh coat of paint, refinishing of the woodwork, updated lighting and new patio furniture - the patio will open for the summer with the re-opening of the restaurant on Sunday, June 1.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — St. Luke’s Hospital’s clam chowder took first prize for the second year in a row at the New Bedford Seaport Chowder Festival at Custom House Square on September 16. St. Luke’s also earned third place in the table presentation category.

Anytime I travel away from the South Coast I enjoy eating in the different places along the way. In fact, I go out of my way to find places of local interest to stop in and experience. Breakfast is an absolute must when I’m on the road. It is my favorite meal to eat, anytime and virtually anywhere.
