Leaders of the Faith Community will be leading a Neighborhood Prayer Walk on Sunday May 30th at 3:00 PM. Beginning and ending at Monte’s Park at the corner of Acushnet Ave. and Russell St., this will be the first of a series of prayer walks throughout the city in areas that have been affected by violence in the past. Everyone is invited to come out and join together to pray and encourage each other to make a difference in our community. “We have had prayer walks in the past but they usually have been in response to an event, a murder or period of violence,” said Rev. David Lima, Executive Minister of the Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford. “This year we decided to be proactive and not reactive, to reach out into the community in faith with prayers and fellowship.”

They knew people with differing faiths and cultures wouldn’t always share the same virtue and value systems, each unto themselves as it were.. What we now collectively understand as the “separation of church and state” emerged from that realization..
